my horse has little lumps one one side of his body around his girth area. they are under his skin with no heads on them. They are not girth scalds. I have treated them with imavorl thats used for treating ringworm and other skin conditions. He is well wormed. I cant take pics of them because you cant really see them you can just feel them. any ideas on what they could be??? They havent got any bigger or smaller or they havent spread and they dont seem to hurt him |

Grenville often gets heat bumps which are just little hard lumps that appear in really hot weather or in an area where he gets hot (like the girth area) also flies and wasp stings are causing a lot of lumps and bumps at the minute and sometimes horses are coming in from allergic reactions to something in the field. If it moves about under the skin it is probably a sist (or so i am told to my knowledge of lumps) and you should monitor it and if it gets bigger or changes shape call your vet but don't worry too much, this is what i am always told and to be honest it is the best thing to do with lumps as when people have had the vet out to look at a lump they litterally can tell you nothing more than it is a lump and then say to call them again if it changes. So since they havn't spread or got bigger or smaller i would say the best bet is a sting, fly bite or heat bump. |
