How about trying to put your hands down instead of up the horses neck? its easier to recover after the jump as as you sit up your hands come up and you have your reins again :) you must give with your reins one way or another because otherwise you may give her a pull in the mouth and she wont want to jump! Good luck...yhe picture looks great! Have fun! x |

@Zoe and Paddy that was how i was taught.. that you follow is mouth down rather then just up his neck, because you want him to round over the jump and bring his neck down (added a photo, not the best but she is reaching down with her neck and rounding over the jump).. @showjumper, I would say you look maybe a little behind the action but your not impending your horses jump.. it looks good, just make sure your legs dont swing too forward..

Gawd I'm not sure what I do!! And when I start thinking about it, it all goes horribly wrong anyway! I don't push my hands forward as I think it would tip me forward, something I have a tendency to do anyway. I used to stand in my stirrups a bit over the jumps as well if I'm not careful. The thing that helps me is to try and stay soft so that I can follow my horse. Any tension really shows over a jump. Now I'd be happy if I was looking as good as you in the pic above Kibby:) |
