Ha ha, yes you're right there-so have I. We definitely need more 'characters' in equestrian sports. And famous people being into horses always helps. Would be great if more of them-bar KP!- could be seen at equestrian events. Sadly I just read a rather damning report from the Royal Festival Of The Horse in the Independent Newspaper saying that crowds were low so stall holders wouldn't want to come back. Poor marketing was one thing they blamed. There were lots of charges on top of the £20 ticket. The layout was muddled and looked tacky. And some things didn't have hardly any spectators such as the Pony Club Bollywood musical ride. Anyway, click the link to read his blog posting. And if you happened to go I would be really interested to find out if you agree with him at all.

I think (and my non-horsey husband agrees) that polocrosse is a great spectator sport. The rules are rather easy to work out, and it's exciting to watch. We don't have pay TV or a set top box (yet, it's on the Christmas list), so I've seen stuff all non-racing horsey stuff on TV. I saw something about the Adelaide 3DE in the beginning of the year, but that was way out of the norm. I'd watch it if they streamed it online. Oh well. I guess that's why I watch Horse Hero videos.

Oh bummer-looks like Horse&Country TV has gone bust. It was reported in a national paper earlier in the week and then H&C denied it. If it's true then they'll be even less equestrianism on TV :( What's going wrong......Personally I still think it's down to lack of personalities and good PR. I know some members have said it's because it's an elite sport but that didn't stop show jumping being really popular with a mass audience when I was a kid. Everyone knew who Harvey Smith (see pic doing his infamous V sign!) and David Broome were.
