We all get things wrong from time to time (oh,sorry, I know there are some members who never do!!!) but as long as we admit we've made a mistake we can do something about it and hopefully become better riders :D One thing I can't stand is seeing someone hit their horse when it was obviously their own fault :( Thought it would be good to have a place where we could fess up to those moments we'd rather forget and at least have a laugh about them!! The camera never lies-well, not unless you're really good at photoshop!! I'm going out jumping again and my husband is getting a lot of it on video so I'm sure I'll have something to add soon!!

that doesn't look to disastrous to me.. Oh i went to a comp a few weekends ago.. the one class mum didnt film, my horse half stopped at a jump then took off, i lost my balance and ended up hanging off her neck.. the bloody fool of a horse saw the next jump (a HUGEEE 1.25m triple bar) and jumped it with me hanging under.. would have been the best clip for this thread. The funniest part was that we cleared it went through the finish pegs and came fifth.. :)

Yep-think you're being hard on yourself Rahara. The thing I notice is that a couple of strides in front of the jump you really drop your shoulders and narrow your chest area which probably puts a bit of weight on her forehand and the shift confuses her. Maybe you're trying to create your position for the jump and bracing a bit rather than let her just take you? That's the great thing about having someone video you as you can see the mistakes for yourself. Hopefully another member will have some good ideas to help you change that. Ha ha Kibby-really wish you had that one on video!

no joke.. under her neck.. this was a week after sammy decided while i was mounting on he would take off before i could even get my leg over the saddle got on almost had him but he dodged to go through a gate and i hadn't quite had enough time to develop a balanced seat.. haha, did i say i was thinking of taking up trick riding. imagin how much easier it would be with a proper saddle with straps to hold you in.. :) i agree with flicka, being much to hard on yourself.. but it does look like you almost get worried in front of the jump.. but other than that i think your doing awesome..

yea thers no bother with the video. haha kibby i can picture that and it looks hilarious! my friend did something similar, shes incredibly competitive, her horse half stopped then jummped and she was hanging of the side for a long stretch to the last jump, she hung on while chasing the horse forward, she jumped the last and just about managed to say on...afterward she said that she was thinking 2 herself you can fall off after the last jump haha she came 3rd i think, not bad considering lol

o and this is my friend at school showjumping, we put her forward for the jump off, but disaster happened on the way to the last jump, her time probably would have won too!

I've let my pony down so many times in jumping, I'm always really annoyed at myself. One fault is glancing down at the jump - instant refusal! Don't look at the jump and keep thinking forward no chance of a refusal. With my jumping lessons this is improving and so is he (probably because his mum isn't so rubbish anymore!) so here's hoping we can continue to do well. I also tend to drop my shoulders a few strides before the next jump probably then causing weight on his forehand making it just a little bit more difficult for him to take off....bad mum! We'll get there:)
