Well i good bit to have on a strong horse is a dutch gag, as you can change the level of control your horse, but if she so strong a cherry roller will stop her being so strong. hope i helped

If she leans you could try a waterford as that encouraged salvation and is slighly stronger than a snaffle. Also, you could try half halting until she slows down which is what i have to with my friends pony who wont even stop in a pelham! she just gets faster and faster, what to do is to take a smooth, quick but firm pull and give her her head back, you can do this every stride until she slows down, and just do this every time she gets too fast/strong for you. Hope you find a way of solving it :)

I use a happy mouth dutch gag on my ex-racehorse. Just seems to give me that little bit extra control out hacking.

It depends on what she actually does, if she crosses her her jaw, then a simple chang of noseband may help. Like a grakle.

Well i did change my horses snaffle to a gag before i sort of decided poll pressure wasn't nice but to be honest it helped but i felt like he was false in it and i was just covering up the problem as it wouldn't stop him being strong so instead i put the snaffle back in, got a flash noseband and a running martingale and lots of lessons about using my seat and legs and now grenville does what i ask when i ask. He is a completely different horse :) i will just advise lessons, persistance and another noseband and possibly a running martingale.

My irish sports horse, jessie, has recently started bucking for no apparent reason, we have had her shoes, teeth and back checked but she does it for no reason, Im wondering if its just naughtyness as she was proffesionaly broken and has only started doing it a week or so ago. I fell of her the other day due to this and she tramples me. This was the first time i have ever fell of her and i jump her twice a week but shes as good as gold when i jump her. I take her hacking, galloping and on the roads aswell as in the menage but nothing seems to work. She never bucks on hacks, roads or galloping, she just bucks in the menage. But she bucks in canter and doesn't do it once, infact its about 4 or 5 times she bucks in a row. Ive had a few horses and i can handle bucks, rears and other bad habbits but i want to sort her ways out. Many thanks, Natasha.

I would get xrays done of the back it could be kissing spine, grenville had this and only did in in school in outline as it was when it hurt if this isn't it check the saddle isn't pinching when you ride her and if it is naughtiness trot through bucks, it makes it harder to buck and try to keep her head up but hind quarters rounded, good luck :) the white between the bones (where they touch) is the KS and schooling agrevates it more causing bucking but it is cureable
