I am in Turkey. My 9 yr haflinger gelding has very sunken flanks. He & several other horses on the farm were vicims of poisoned feed last year ( 7 died ) despite testing etc the cause was never pinned down ( we suspect nitrate poisoning or a combination of heavy metals ). He wasnt too badly affected but ever since his flanks have been sunken in & can be seen very prominently when he is eating . He is not dehydrated & is on plenty of roughage. Any ideas ? I have him on a low carb / oil diet as I wasnt happy with him on grain mix - he has plenty of energy & has no other unusual health problems - just the occasional every day horsey ailments ie lamness once in a while. Is there anything I can give him to sort his flanks out ? |
