For the first time since I've had her in 2 years, the whole winter she stayed clean and was really happy in her new field. Her usual field is really muddy and 2 hours after she went back as the farmer needed his field back for the lambing season, my mare was covered in mud, which must be really depressing when you've been clean all winter! She had come down to a good weight and re-entered the field looking really healthy and in good condition with a glossy coat. Just 2 weeks on, however, her face is raw with distinct bald patches, which carries under her forelock and rear quarters. She has also lost some more weight. Two days later, it is much worse and I have since discovered that one of the other horses has a bald back, so she must have picked it up from him. I can see no lice, but there is a mass of white scurf and she is clearly very itchy. Any hasty suggestions of diagnosis and treatment? Thanks. Gx
