My pony is having tantrums with any other rider that rides him but goes like a dream for me, I have had all sorts of rider on his and he reacts the same. He throws his head, bucks, bunny hops, resists contact and isn't responsive. I jump on and he goes perfectly! You can imagine it is very frustrated especially since we are doing open ridden highland classes where in many cases a judge rides! Beginning to think about ditching open classes and giving WH all my attention....anybody got any suggestions? |

My horse does this too! It drives me mad cos' i am trying to part loan but he is so naughty and unresponsive for others. I would try lunging other riders on him first and work from there, that's what i do and when they are off the lunge line and happy i stand in there still until he is good again and then leave the school. |

Got some advice from my instructor today and he reckons it is a past experience that has caused this (before I got him) he took a while to trust me as a rider and go well with me when I first got him. So we are going to slowly ask a few riders to plod about on him and not be demanding then work it up to a little trot then alot of trot then canter etc etc:) |

This isn't choosing who can and can't ride well with callum though, this is a deeper issue with trust. Very insecure pony for some reason, will work his heart out for me (now I have his trust and have bonded ) but not for others. Open classes with ridden judges is not possible right now, will be concentrating on working hunter for a while instead:) |

Yeah can totally understand your horse haha I know plenty like that too! Unfortunately my boy isn't quite so simple:( Would love to know why he is like that but they can't speak, wish they could sometimes! Would hate for a judge to get on and be thrown off so not risking it, whatever the reason I suppose I'll never get to share him with anyone maybe thats a good thing! Life goes on...:) |

Not sure if it's a good thing or not but as far as I'm concerned he's with me for life anyway so shouldn't be a problem:) Took a while for me to get on and go with no tantrums, definately think it's a trust thing. Showing is only one thing we do for a bit of fun so not the end of the world and won't stop me enjoying him:) |
