I wondered if anyone on here was doing this Monty Roberts online course, or if you knew of anyone doing it? I am interested as Monty was promoting it at a demonstration last year and I often get emails advertising it. I wondered how you can teach join up via online lessons or what other things they teach you. Basically just interested to know how good the course is. |

I took a 5 day foundation course in 2000. My advice is to take one of those with Kelly Marks, then if you are really hooked join the Equus online. I have joined Parelli, as I found MR only got me so far, then I brick walled. |

Hiya thanks for the advice, I wouldnt want to do an online MR course, I don't think, as I can't see how you can learn something practical online. But I did wonder how popular it was and if anyone who had experience in it, would recommend it to others. The Parelli clinic sounds good though, something that I would like to do! Did you take Bo with you Plodalong? |

yes i did take Bo, thats when i realised that he absolutly hated having a bit in his mouth, we were riding in a rope hackamore and poor Bo was like a different horse. the 5 days were with a new zealand parelli proffessional Russell Higgins he comes and spends the summer here, it cost a fortune bu we classed it as our holiday. i really learned a lot and Bo appeared to enjoy it. this year i am going to learn savvy stuff with richenda boughton, she is a pupil of Mark Rshid and Jayne Lavender,we are going to her place the last week in july, this is only costing half as much and it is in peterborough which is a 3 hour tow for us.she will put bo to graze in the paddock with her herd and we will stay for the week.have a look on her website.www.richenda.boughton@positivehorsemanship.com.She is also an accredited trainer for horseagility, she said she will tailor the week to whatever i want to learn be it groundskills, riding or horseagility.it will be interesting how Mark Rashid does things differently than Parelli. you know me always willing to learn,as long as its fun as well. |

I personally think that the Equus university looks really good, i want my xmas present this year to be membership for it lol! It is not a course specifically, you pay a yearly fee and you get access to videos, blogs and recorded demos of how to deal with lots of different situations. There are videos of how join up can be done, and its good to watch it be done by others, as well as things like learning to lead properly, how to start a horse including the follow up after join up, loading etc. You dont get a qualification or anything, its more like a community where you can have access to lots of info, put your questions forward for answering and also talk to other members about your experiences etc. There are weekly lessons for you to try, and i think there are quizzes and targets and stuff too!Hope this helps :) |
