I am seriously considering buying a horse but as i am about to start VCE I am wondering if any one can give me tips or advise. I am studying to become an Eqine Vet so that requires about 4 hours a night! I get home on an average school night at 5 o'clock but would be able to keep the horse on my land. Its getting into winter so that days are getting shorter so any tips/advise would be appresiated!
thanks a heap:D |

It sounds like if your honest you don't really have the time to give a horse attention, if you were going to keep a horse on your own land you would need a companion too? So you'd have 2 horses to look after. I don't think you really have the time at the moment and would wait until you have more spare time to to give your horse the attention it really needs:) |

You will need to ride in the dark if you want to exercise in the winter, I extercise two horse with no facilities in the winter, by riding in the dark. It really depends on how much you need to study as most I know when they go to university to study as a vet put the horse out on loan as it's a huge commitment along side studying especially as a vet. |

if you are looking a horse, maybe share 1? If you buy 1 you may find yourself getting too tired and either your study or the horse will suffer. |

I am currently studying veterinary and in my second year and have just bought a yearling....this is so when it younger it can only concentrate for short periods of time which is great and then it becomes of backing age the year I graduate to can then throw myself into training her then! There is enough time if you are close to study veterinary and keep a horse but you need to be good at time management! Let us know what you decide!
Previous comments on sharing is a good idea there are always people studying veterinary who are horsey!!
Good luck |
