There are some books we read as children which caught our imagination then when perhaps we were only jsut beginnign to dream of owning our own pony...and inspired by that story we have sought the horsey life and the companionship of these beautiful creatures ever since. Which was the book that didi it for you?

'The Silver Brumby' This was a series of booksabout the wild Australian horse and I just devoured them when I was a child. There was a call to the wild in these books in the way the life of the herds was described. That very particular sense has live with me all these years. Anyone else out there grow up on these books?

Jill and her Gymkhanna was my favorite set of books. There were quite a few and all involved Jill and her pony. I loved them but have not seen them since which is a real shame. They were absolutely brilliant and I loved them all.

This is a real trip down memory lane. Thanks, Tweek, for the names of some of those other Brumbies. I'd long forgotten them. I wonder if these books are still read today? To my shame I didn't read them to my children.
