UNDERSTANDING YOUR HORSE by Richard Maxwell and Lesley Bayley. Here's one for the natural approach to getting into the mind of your horse. I think it goes for those who are experienced with horses as well as those who are new to it all. I remember recommending it to the mother or my horsemad goddaughter when they were buying that first pony. The mother had never done anything with horses before and was understandably extremely nervous about the whole enterprise, but obligingly took my suggestion, and gave the book rave reviews. God-daughter now a rather accomplished rider having lived and breathed it all for 5 years. |

I was about to download the Klaus Ferdinand Hemphling vid to trot on and see you've already beaten me to it! Isn't he amazing. I wonder if it's so easy to get what he does from a book though- has anyone read it yet? Thought I'd ask before I add to my ever increasing mountain of horse books!! |

Just reading the latest book by Mark Rashid 'Whole Heart, Whole Horse' and it's WONDERFUL!! I was really impressed by Mark when I went to watch one of his clinics-he is a horseman not a showman who is always looking and learning. He says" It's funny how sometimes in life you can look at something for years and years, and for years and years the picture never changes. Then suddenly, out of the blue, a new piece of information comes in. Even though the picture doesn't change, we start seeing that scene in a completely different light." Strangely enough this book has come to me at a time when I have been observing, and questioning the exact same thing-see chapters on TRAUMA and he has confirmed what I have felt. I urge everyone to read and learn from this incredible book-and I'm only half way through- I don't want it to end!! |
