Dear Dolly, you're a perfect candidate for Bach Flower Remedies! You may have come across Rescue Remedy, which is a mix of five of the 38 remedies. Star of Bethlehem helps remove the bad effects of shock, no matter how long ago it was, Cherry Plum covers panic and thoughts of death and disaster, White Chestnut deals with unwanted repetitive thoughts, and Walnut is the link-breaker, which would help you to break your mental/emotional link with the trauma in your past. You may need to take the remedies for a few months to see the final result, but some people react very quickly. There are lots of confidence techniques that would help you too, but see how you get on. Hope this inspires you to leave your experiences in the past, where they belong. Kind regards, Caroline

Hi Karina23, the Flower Remedies could help you too. And do have a read through the many posts in this group where I give people advice on ways to improve their confidence. For instance, Calming Breathing and mental rehearsal could be good for you. Kind regards, Caroline

hi there, i used to be scared of jjumping because i had a really bad fall at a comp and it scared me to pieces! but i now have my own horse and i have had stack of lessons on him but i hadnt really jumped untill me and my friends decided to have a jumping comp. one of my friends is a 3 star eventer (chantel) and another is an AMAZING jumper (tash), anyway, we had this comp called 'the power jump' where everyone pays 50cents a round, every round the jump goes up, and slowly people started getting out, eventually chantel, tash and i were left and then tash got out after a few rounds chantel ended up winning but the jump height she won on was 1.10 meetres! i didn't get over that one but i did make it over 1.05 metres! the thing that helped me was one of the instructors that was there just b4 i went over the very first jump reminded me 'lovely legs, lovely hands and look up' now when ever i jump i remember these words and i forget about the height of the jump. 'lovely legs (heels down and legs on), lovely hands (not pulling but not doing nothing) and look up' so anyone afraid of jumping just remember 'lovely legs, lovely hands and look up'!!

I have had many falls before, one resulting in having to be lifted to hospital in an air ambulance! But what I did when I was nervous was to find a pony/horse that I new could do it, watch a friend on the same pony/horse then try myself over a small cross pole slowly working it bigger, but always keeping it a cross pole.
