Try to avoid the spot first plan if not stop next to the gap for a while and if she bucks squeeze hard with you legs as a telling off, make sure its not a signal to go forward though also try to transfer the negative movement into positive energy like when you feel a buck cooming use the energy she has gathered for a turn on the forhand or for a transition, if non of this works take a stick and make bucking unpleasent (last resort cos i hate sticks) |

just read about him tanking off when you lead him, sounds like the horse has no respect for you at all, make sure he knows who is boss, do NOT ever let him manipulate you! get him told, if you want to do something or go somewhere at a pace you want in hand or in saddle he should go, you decide things not your horse. you pay for him you are his owner he does not own you. get tough with him, if he says no to something make a point of riding closer, if he wants to go right go left, when you get close to home and he speeds up without being asked slow down and loop away for another small hack, lead him around the yard or field, lead him down a lane, he protests put the rope over his nose and under the head collar like a pressure head collar and make him go wher you want to go. my horse hated being lead but now i donnt even use a head collar or leadrope he just goes where i want him to go, i go to the field he knows he has to follow me where i want him to go, if he doesn't want to go i grab his rug or a bit of mane and he follows without me having to pull him. |
