Hi everyone, it's nice to see interest in Bach Flower Remedies. Dr Edward Bach was a hospital doctor who noticed that every single patient in hospital had emotional imbalances that contributed to their sickness. He developed a system of treating patients based on their emotional state, which was very successful. After getting a job at the homoeopathic hospital, he discovered homoeopathy, which treats each person on their individual mental, emotional and physical symptoms. He then went on to develop the Flower Remedies, which are made from trees, plants and natural resources around his home in the Oxfordshire countryside. He died in 1936. His home, Mount Vernon, is still the centre for education in the remedies today. He was a very wonderful man, far ahead of his time. There are 38 Bach Flower Remedies, all prescribed on the patient's emotional symptoms. Rescue Remedy is a mix of five of the 38, and so is not applicable to all situations. It's real use is for times of trauma - situations that need "rescuing". So it's good for after a fall or other accident (even seeing someone else get hurt) and in other traumatic situations. Olive is the remedy for exhaustion of mind and body, a real lack of energy. Each person or animal has their own emotional state and everyone needs an individual prescription to get the best out of Bach Flower Remedies. You only have to look at all the variations of fears and experiences that people talk about in this group to see the truth in that approach. Hope this whets your interest to find out more! Thats a brilliant explanation. I have always wondered why Rescue Remedy never worked for me and now I understand why. I was first offered it - that sounds a bit dodgy - when I did a riding lecture/demo in front of 500 people and was feeling a litte nervous. I felt it didn't help at all but that was because I didn't need 'rescuing'. As for olive, I almost have a shrine in my kitchen for the God of Olive. Couldn't live without it, its almost on par with my horses!! |

Thanks caroline that is really interesting to know a little about the bach flower remedies. It seems the rescue remedy is the one that has become the most popular as it is readily available in boots and in different forms such as cream, chewy sweets, pills, and as a tincture in a bottle. Sounds a really interesting area. |

Can I pick your brain Caroline. Two questions, 1. Do you think that if you take enough remedy it solves the problem and you no longer need to take it or if you take a remedy long enough can you become immune to it. More importantly can you treat your horse with Bach Flower Remedies? |
