I havn't heard of Steve Halfpenny, but will look out for him. Am intregued by the Australian approach. I'm so glad to see that the common sense / natural approach is growing and people are starting to understand their horses better by reading their body language. With the healing and natural therapies I use with horses, it is vital to work with the horse's body language as a means of indicating their needs. I'm very lucky to have Caroline Baldock as a friend and work colleague. She's amazing. Not only did she help to write Monty Roberts first 4 books, she created some of the exercises in them, and continues to create new ways of helping people with horses. She also a strong campaigner for the Museum of the Horse (see www.museumofthehorse.org).

I love Clinton Anderson. His technics have done wonders on my western pleasure gelding. I now have control of him on a lunge line without a chain. If he gets crazy he stops instantly when I say WHOA! For the mounted stuff I skipped directly to the Advanced DVD, it has really made a big difference in my horses training. I get compliments all the time on how beautiful he goes. He used to spook and carry on a lot, now he keeps his mind on business.

Saddleup, your friend sounds brilliant - we all could do with a friend like that - or even better, learn to communicate better ourselves. Plodalong, that book sounds great, shall have to look it up :) I have never done a course/clinic with Clinton Anderson. I have this thing about clinics too... I never take a horse the first time. I just fence sit. That way, if there is a technique I don't want to use on my horse for whatever reason, I don't have to subject them to it, and I don't have to explain why I'm not doing that particular thing. If I'm happy with everything, I show up to the next one with a horse :) I have done clinics with John Chatterton (author of 10 Commandments) who I really liked, then I came across someone I like even better. He does go to the US occasionally, not sure about anywhere else. He is Carlos Tabernaberri. He's not a super *showman* like some others, but he is a fabulous horseman, a quiet achiever, with techniques and philosophies that might just change how you view your horse and yourself for ever ;) Check out his website.

Oh, just to clarify, didn't mean to sound like I was closed to his ideas, I've never had the opportunity to watch him work, but he is very respected, so I would like to. ;) Might have to jump onto his Faceboook page for a look-see, would be a good start...
