hello again we are getting to the time of year that my hairy boy will soon begin to moult, as soon as his coat starts to come off he will begin itching, is there something you can reccommend that we may use to ease this itching, i tried a product from global herbs last year i think it was called scratch, Bo is not a fussy eater but there was no way i could get him to eat it, so wether or not it would have helped we never found out.your advice would be appreciated thanks.

Hi I tend not to recommend feeding supplements of minerals in isolation. Trace elements are so interlinked I think it's better to give a general supplement and let the body sort the balances out with everything available. On that basis I recommend Global Herbs Globalvite as it is a plant-based source. With regard to horses itching at moulting to some degree that is normal - it aids the shedding of the coat so I'm not convinced it is stoppable or necessarily desirable. I think there's little substitute for a very long grooming session(!) and if you want you can use rugs to speed the shedding as some do by increasing body temperature but don't overdo it and overheat your horse either. Best wishes Roger

Shedding blade is one of my best friends plodalong! I use it everyday coming into spring when my boy starts moulting, you can pick one up for about a pound or two! amazing things, and saves my boy alot of itching.
