My dad's like that, my mum had ponies when she was little, and I've always loved them but my dad does not like animals. When I was about 10 I asked my dad one New Year's Eve for riding lessons, he was pretty drunk but he agreed and I had witnesses so he had no excuses not to let me go! He never took me though, but I haven't been discouraged! I now have a horse on loan, which he really doesn't like, but I can get there myself now so I'm not going to stop! |

My mum is awsome !!!
She is terrified of horses but always tries her best to be brave, and has had a couple of goes in the saddle herself! I am from a totally non - horsey background so its quite difficult for my parents to understand all the technical terms but they always tries there best. My mum is getting so much better now she has even agreed to have her own horse when we can afford it and im going to give her lessons :) |

I came from a non-horsey, and a horsey family at the same time. My dad and brother had no interest in horses, but my mom had ridden quite a bit when she was younger, but found it hard to keep it up as she grew. However, when I took an immediate liking to horses, I began riding at age 4. It took mom a while, but once we got to more hands-on barn and she found a rusty Thoroughbred gelding-now our horse-she made her business to train him. And, yes, she did know what she was doing. Anyway, for about a year, she worked with that gelding while I was having the time of my life leasing her friend's little pony. But, once he had to go back with his family, I became more involved with the Thoroughbred. And, now, he's my boy. Well, he's both of ours xD. We love him to bits and keep him very fit and perhaps spoil him a wee little bit, but it's amazing. I am so close to my mom and I love having this connection. Of course there has been some times where she got nervous about her daughter who doesn't always know when to slow down-tehe- riding this head strong, fit, energetic, smart Thoroughbred, but she's beginning to trust me a lot more, and will hopefully be letting me go on my first eventing trial with him! :D |
