This is such an interesting book, its not very long about 100 pages and an easy read. What makes it fascinating is that it was written 2,500 years ago, a time before saddles were invented. Yet it is as relevant today as it was then covering all aspects of horsemanship. What to look for in a horse, care, riding and training. It deals with grooming 'begin with head and mane; if the upper parts are not clean, its a waste of labour to clean the lower parts. How a rider should sit 'I do not approve of a seat which is though the man were on a chair, but rather as though he were standing upright with his legs apart. If you every wondered how to mount your horse with a javelin, its all here.

Hi Dazzle, this sounds totally fascinating - thanks for the steer - found it on Amazon and it costs just a fiver so I'll let you know how I get on with it!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have, even the non horsey Mr. Dazzle read it and loved it and he now knows the correct armour to wear with his javelin, it always having been a problem to date! The description of how to put a bridle on could have been written yesterday.

Hi Dazzle glad I have seen this thread, it is on my list of books to read. I'm even more determined to read it now, as you are enthusiastic about it too.
