Hi Moonshadow-thanks for posting the video-I wish I could ride like that! The only thing that makes me wince are the sliding stops-I noticed the horse was really wringing his tail afterwards. Can you tell use a bit more about her please?

Hi, Stacey is brilliant, I have her championship run video in my vids too. She is a well reknowned western rider. The sliding stops are just part of western riding and the maneges used have a special surface (no membrane and rolled clay or tarmac) to enable this. The horses are also shod with special 'sliding shoes' which enable them to slide easily. I think the tail swishes comes from the fact that like many ridden movements these are very exaggerated natural movements which the horse will always find rather difficult and unnatural and therefore shows this objection in the tail. The tail doesn't lie so to speak!!

I had the privilege of seeing Stacey Westfall ride in Nova Scotia, Canada, at the Can-Am All Breeds Horse Extravaganza. She was amazing and so friendly. She came in galloping at high speed on her black QH mare without anything on for tack. Not even a bridle! The reining pattern she did to music was flawless. I never seen anything like that before and have been around horses for 35 years! It was something to see. Her ride was very inspirational and emotional, I had tears in my eyes :) Her husband later came and joined her on his horse. She grew up in Maine, USA, which is only a couple hours drive from where I live In New Brunswick, Canada. Maritime Provinces. They have 3 little boys. Weaver leather featured her on their products
so when I bought a Weaver sidepull bridle, I got a free Stacey Westfall training and horse safety video :)
