I am having serious problems with my arab horse. I fell off her a couple of weeks ago and ever since then I've been terrified when riding her. She doesn't help as she is often spooky and flighty. Its starting to ruin realtionships as a lot of people think I should just get on and do it but I only wish it was that easy. I'd really like to do dressage with her as we are both capable but are totally incapable of working together. If anyone has any advice, support or comments please post a note on my profile. Thanks

i always used to find it hard to breat in canter, just try short canters on your horse and maybe away from your sister , just trya nd breath normally and just let the horse do the work , you will get used to it, try going on runs aswell it really helps keep you fit and challenges your breathing hope it gets betetr x

i always find it hard to breath in a canter, i think its my sister making me nervous and so this makes it hard for me to sit and it doesnt help me when my crancky sister is teaching me cause it only takes her two seconds two get made at me.

Trust your horse, dont look at the jump. Look up and think about what your going to do when you get over the jump.

Like most of y'all, I first rode as a child - with complete abandon and assuming I was made of bounceable rubber parts. Then as an adult I've FINALLY been able to have my dream of owning horses and keeping them at home - first I had an ex show horse throw me and take off with me a few times (he knew his size), quickly replaced by a trail worthy mount who owns my heart... Then this year I underwent ADR (artificial disc replacement) for my lumbar spine. It's taken a lot for me to get my confidence back up! Then a mystery horse I rode in Sept tried to buck me like a bronc and I stayed on & corrected him - and now my confidence is MUCH better. That and having survived a huge group trail ride with 1000 spooky things that Scout made it thru unscathed! Wow do I love my horse... but I'm always working on nervousness. Glad to find this group!

I was a confident rider when I started riding 5 years ago, then when we got given our young horse, I didn't ride for a while, because I didn't want to ride him, thinking he was too tall! Then when I started again I was nervous so bad that I couldn't eat when we wwere going for a ride or going to pony club for fears I would be sick. Now I have my second horse, and I now ride confidently and look forward to each ride.

my hubby is a pig farmer, and our horses have taken quite a few years to get used to the smell, he sometimes struggles to get them in if they think he smells too much like pigs!!

Lots of horses hate pigs, don't they? I have to ride past my friends' Vietnamese Pot Bellied pets and it depends how Millie's feeling as to how she behaves! I helped two ladies who had to ride past pigs on a very busy and dangerous road. A combination of Bach Flower Remedies for the horses and keep calm skills for the riders made all the difference. http://www.enjoyriding.com

Just past a field where there's Pigs. Something to do with the smell, or the look. Anyway a horse called Arthur I used to ride would freak out as we rode towards this one particular field.

I am so glad to find this group! Living in Suffolk, I have found it hard to find an instructor that trained with Caroline but, now that I'm moving to near Wisbech, I can book the one I originally wanted as she's nearby! I have regular newsletters from Caroline and this group is a real bonus.
